No poll duty by postal voting denied 100 public servants

Claiming that they have been deprived of their right to postal voting, public servants of Mahaoya and Padiyathalawa areas in Ampara have decided to abstain from election duties, citing that their vote is important than duty.

They have written to the Assistant Elections Commissioner of Ampara that this was despite having handed over their duly filled postal voting applications to their superiors before the deadline.

Around 100 public servants at the Mahaoya and Padiyathalawa Zonal Educational Office and the Divisional Secretariat have thus been denied the posting voting opportunity.

These areas have also reported the highest number of rejected postal voting applications in the Ampara District.
