"You will be killed if you come back." Pillaiyan Group attacks JVP

One person was seriously injured and admitted to Ampara hospital as an armed mob of Pillaiyan Group attacked a team of supporters of JVP who was returning from Thambilivil village of Thirukkovil Divisional Secretariat area after campaigning in that village. The JVP supporters were assaulted with clubs, chains and wires.

The injured person is Mr. R. Wijesundaram, a JVP member.

JVP provincial organizer Wasantha Peiris said to Lanka-e-News that when the party supporters were returning after distributing propaganda handbills, an armed mob of around 15 persons stopped their trishaw, made them to get down, threatened that Sinhalese were not allowed to campaign in Tamil areas, assaulted them with clubs, chains and wires. Mr. Somasundaram was targeted for a sever assault, said Mr. Peiris.

He further said that the Pillaiyan Group supporters destroyed the handbills and posters the JVP supporters had with them.
