Weerawansa Faction party to be launched in mid May

Weerawansa Faction that broke away from JVP is to launch their new political party in mid May.
MP Nandana Gunathilaka said to Lanka-e-News that the MPs of the Weerawansa Faction, a group that quitted from the party and another group that denied JVP underground politics met yesterday to discuss extensively the policies of the party. They have decided to form a broad, democratic, progressive, patriotic mass organization.

Kaluthara Senevi who is a leading activist of the JVP from 1986 to 1994 and former Financial Secretary of the JVP Senarathna Silva also took part in the discussion.

JVP had no democracy
Mr. Gunathilaka said that the group discussed the policies and the programme of the new party; the ways to engage in politics through grassroots level organizations and implementing democracy to the maximum level. He further said that the JVP had no democracy within the party sans secrecy.

Mr. Gunathilaka said that any progressive, anti-imperialist and patriotic person has a seat in the new party and there was no fear of joining people with the party or leaving it.
