Pillayan is no Indian automation – PNM

The Patriotic National Movement has disagreed with the JVP's claim that the Pillayan Group is an automation of India.

Its president Dr. Gunadasa Amarasekara told the media in Colombo yesterday (Apr. 30th) that there was no acceptable evidence to substantiate the claim.

Pillayan is today in democratic politics and he was not involved in any unlawful act during the recent elections, which are indications that he is not dancing to the tune of India, Dr. Amarasekara said.

If there are indications that Pillayan is going to be an automation of India, we should bring him back to the correct path, the PNM President said.

He also called on the people of the east to use their vote to elect patriots to their council and to defeat the unpatriotic forces like the UNP, the SLMC and the TNA.

The people should act intelligently as the May 10th election will be a very crucial one for the future of the entire nation, Dr. Amarasekara said.

In the event of unpatriotic forces emerging the winner, all the victories gained by the security forces will be reversed, he warned.

Rauff Hakeem had entered into a pact with Prabhakaran some time ago with the intention of forming a separate Muslim unit in the east, the PNM president alleged.

The media conference was also attended by PNM's Steering Committee members Prof. Upali Jayasekara, Prof. Walter Marasinghe, Dr. Wasantha Bandara, Cyril Wickramage, Senaratne de Silva, Cyril Enderamulla and Lalith Sapumaldeniya.
